First Listen: Ariana Grande’s New Christmas Song, “Love Is Everything”

If your Monday has been sorely lacking in shrill jumbled pop songs, then I have the answer for you: a preview snippet of Ariana Grande’s new Christmas song, “Love Is Everything,” which will be available for download starting tomorrow.

Now you may not expect this from me, minions, but I love Christmas music. Love it. It reminds me of putting on my new Oscar de la Renta gown for one of the season’s many galas, popping open a bottle of Perrier Jouet and dancing the evening away with Golden Boy! So, I’m a rather harsh critic when it comes to new holiday tunes, and AG’s Mariah Carey-esque vocals are totes wasted on this tune. Take a listen to the clip…

Is there a melody in there? Because if there is, I can’t find it. I’ve said this so many times, but I richly wish that AG would pare down the studio stylings and just let her phenomenal voice take center stage… enough with the fluff and trills and screechy whatnots.

This is the second out of four promised holiday songs–the first was her rendition of “Last Christmas” which I unashamedly loved. But this…not feeling it, minions.

But am I being a grinch when it comes to AG’s Christmas song? Do you think/hope that the full version will be better than this too-short clip? Or should she stay away from this genre altogether…?
